It is estimated that over 1 billion women will be going through the menopause by 2023 - however, it is still viewed as a taboo subject, with as many as 1 in 3 women suffering in silence through what is a natural transition stage of womanhood.
Half of women recently surveyed as part of the Gen-M Invisibility report were unable to name any phases of the menopause and almost half surveyed had never heard the term perimenopause.
This means there is a massive gap in women’s understanding of their body’s and this is where we can help!
Menopause is defined as 12 months without a period and the average age of it happening to women in the UK, is 51. Whilst most women are aware of the term menopause and what it means, 2 in 3 women were ‘blindsided’ by the perimenopause (which means ‘around menopause’) and symptoms can start up to 12 years before menopause.
Learning about and understanding the 43 commonly reported peri-menopausal symptoms could be life changing for many women, however very few know about them. We highly recommend learning about them over on the Gen-M website.

We would also recommend downloading our FREE cycle tracker to bring to your first consultation to give your practitioner an idea of the symptoms you are facing so they can begin to tailor your unique treatment plan. Even if you are currently not having periods due a contraceptive method, it is still very much worth charting how you feel each week to pick up on any patterns. You could simply start on the 1st of the month or even use the cycle of the moon as a guide.

Selina who does acupuncture is first class. Having had treatment from Selina for some time now, I can safely say that I have improved in mind, body and as a person. I have been in some very dark places in recent times and with her help, care and support I have made it through and for that I will be eternally grateful.
Only a few appointments at Bridgeham and after years of discomfort and pain, I no longer suffer. Excellent service and well organised.
Over many years treatment and Pilates classes have helped to keep me fit and well. I have had excellent service.
I have every confidence in the practitioners that have treated me at the Bridgeham Clinic. There is time and understanding not only of the physical symptoms I am experiencing but also the psychological impact this is having. The different practitioners work well together and I feel I have found somewhere professional and safe that I can go to when needed. The reception staff are extremely friendly and the whole experience is very welcoming. I feel I am at the centre of my own care, with everyone working around me to make things better for me.
Whenever I come to Bridgeham I feel confident that I will leave pain-free. I have never had bad service and feel very much part of a “family” that is there to improve my quality of life. Quite simply Bridgeham has changed my life for the better – without the treatment I receive there I would be in constant pain.
