At Bridgeham, we genuinely believe that knowledge is power and that all women should be fully empowered to have a magical menopause!

It is estimated that 1 billion women will be going through the menopause by 2021 - however, it is still viewed as a taboo subject, with as many as 1 in 3 women suffering in silence through what is a natural transition stage of womanhood.

Half of women recently surveyed as part of the Gen-M Invisibility report were unable to name any phases of the menopause and almost half surveyed had never heard the term perimenopause.

This means there is a massive gap in women’s understanding of their body’s and this is where we can help!

Menopause is defined as 12 months without a period and the average age of it happening to women in the UK, is 51. Whilst most women are aware of the term menopause and what it means, 2 in 3 women were ‘blindsided’ by the perimenopause (which means ‘around menopause’) and symptoms can start up to 12 years before menopause.

Learning about and understanding the 43 commonly reported peri-menopausal symptoms could be life changing for many women, however very few know about them. We highly recommend learning about them over on the Gen-M website.

Our practitioners offer FREE 15-minute telephone, online or in person consultations to discuss how they may be able to help. To find out more please contact our amazing admin angels on 01293 542245 or complete this online form and they will get back to you.

We would also recommend downloading our FREE cycle tracker to bring to your first consultation to give your practitioner an idea of the symptoms you are facing so they can begin to tailor your unique treatment plan. Even if you are currently not having periods due a contraceptive method, it is still very much worth charting how you feel each week to pick up on any patterns. You could simply start on the 1st of the month or even use the cycle of the moon as a guide.

"I can't put into words how happy I am with the acupuncture treatment I received from Rachel at Bridgeham Clinic. I've been under a specialist for around 5 years, I've had a number of cortisone injections to help with the pain. Thanks to Rachel I'm pain free after just 2 treatments. No more pain killers or waking during the early hours trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. Thanks to Rachel and all of the team at Bridgeham, I felt so welcome and comfortable despite Covid restrictions."

Teresa

"I can’t recommend The Bridgeham Clinic enough. You are made to feel so welcome as soon as you walk through the door. After suffering from migraines and neck pain for many years. I have now been pain free since December thanks to Dan (osteopath) and Selena (acupuncture) for working their magic.”

Debbie

"I really enjoyed my first Zoom Pilates session! I’ll definitely be continuing through lockdown! I didn’t think I’d like it, but it really is no different to being in the studio. Still got an opportunity to speak to the others in class and Gordon engaged with everyone as the class went on. Great experience and will certainly recommend!”

Jayne

"Osteopath Michael was amazing today! He's the nicest guy & can highly recommend him! I was so nervous, and he was totally calm and relaxed and talked me through everything, he was so thorough & ended up re-aligning my whole body! Fantastic!"

Stevie

"Went for my first appointment since lockdown and felt really safe with all Bridgeham’s brilliant precautionary measures"

Caroline

"Went for the first time after a recommendation. The receptionist may be the loveliest person I've encountered this month! So welcoming and made me the best cup of tea ever. The facilities are nice and clean with ample parking. My appointment was with Clemence (osteo) and she managed to loosen up my lower back that has been tight and painful (at times seizing up). She was super knowledgeable and warm and friendly.”
