Poor Circulation

Poor Circulation

Your body’s circulatory system is responsible for sending blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout your body. If blood flow to a part of your body is reduced, you may experience some symptoms of poor circulation. Poor circulation is most common in your legs and arms particularly the further down the arms and legs you go. Circulation problems can be a sign of other health issues such as high/low blood pressure, diabetes or heart issues however they can also be caused by smoking, lack of exercise and bad diets.

Some of the common symptoms of underline circulation problems are:

  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Muscle Cramps and fatigue
  • Stinging and Throbbing
  • Pain
  • Persistent coldness

How Bridgeham can Help?

We would usually advise that you consult with your GP to ensure that the circulation problem is not coming from any other health issue.

We usually recommend that you have an initial appointment with an osteopath in order to obtain a full case history and examination. From there a diagnosis can be made and a treatment plan formed. This may involve further osteopathic or massage treatment to help improve the circulation mechanically.

Depending on the situation, we may advise that you see one of our practitioners for a health screen. This would involve a complete review of your health status including, weight, height, BMI, lifestyle questionnaire, cholesterol levels and urinalysis and then forming a care plan suited to you.

It may also be recommended to consider an appointment with our nutritionist to determine whether your diet has any contributing factor.
