Hello "August"

Hello, August!  The eighth month of the year has arrived, and it feels like our last chance at summer!

Fewer rainy days means more sunshine (with a bit of luck) to give us a good dose of Vitamin D — builder of strong bones and teeth and fabulous hair. Sunshine also boosts our serotonin levels, which makes us happier, so bring on the sunshine!!!

For some, August is a time for family relaxation, and is the last full month of fun before the regular work and school schedule kicks back in.

We hope that August can be an opportunity to follow your passions. Have fun, enjoy your free time, be adventurous and be creative.

See how Team Bridgeham can help you enjoy your time!

Bridgeham is celebrating 30 years this year and we would like to thank all our patients for their loyalty and support.

Trevor and Jo have recorded a little video talking about their passion for what they do and their journey so far.  Click here to see their video

We had a celebratory coffee morning on the 25th of July with amazing cake courtesy of our star baker, Mary. The event was attended by some of our wonderful Pilates group class ladies and gents, as well as Ian Wilkins from Crawley Open House together with Steve Sawyer and Clare Silva from Manor Royal BID.

We would love to hear memories from you lovely patients who have been coming to Bridgeham and there is a memory book in the reception area for this when you are next in clinic.

We are delighted to welcome Alistair Schofield to Bridgeham as a Physiotherapist. Alistair has been a patient at Bridgeham since early childhood and has now returned to Bridgeham as a practitioner.

He will use physiotherapy and exercise prescription to help patients achieve individual goals without the use of manipulations.

Physiotherapy can be useful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions.

Alistair will be working on Thursdays and Fridays from the 10th of August. For more details, or to book a free 15-minute consultation with Alistair, please call our admin angels on 01293 542245, or you can book via our website.

Knee pain exists due to a plethora of causes, from osteoarthritis to an injury, to inflammatory issues like rheumatoid arthritis. When this happens.... to continue reading click here

To Help You Connect Better to Your Core and Pelvic Floor

How do you strengthen your Pelvic Floor? Watch Lindsay's video here

When I first started strengthening my pelvic floor after getting my Pelvic Organ Prolapse diagnosis, I realised that it was much more than just Kegel’s. Below are the 7 areas of focus for a gold standard pelvic floor:

  1. The pelvic floor itself - learn to contract and release so that it’s dynamic in function
  2. Posture and alignment - stack your bones and improve your posture
  3. Diaphragm and breathing patterns - master diaphragmatic breathing pattern
  4. Core pressure regulation - discover if you are actually squashing your core
  5. Glutes - find your strong and dynamic booty
  6. Hips - integrate happy hips that move well
  7. Feet & Jaw - who knew the feet and jaw connect to the core and floor?

**This class will appeal to pre and post pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause**

If using your pelvic floor seems really overwhelming, sign up for this 6-week course, to make it simple and achievable.   Details below:

12Sep - 17Oct (6 weeks initially)
Tuesday 1230 - 1320
Special offer of £72.00 if you sign up before Tuesday 29th August
(normally £85.00)

Contact the clinic on 01293 542245 to book this class.

Testimonial Prize Draw Winner!

Here is what Mrs. S said about her Bridgeham experience:

"I have had chronic neck and jaw pain for years. Having tried numerous physios, acupuncturists etc I was ready to give up. My sister recommended Selena for acupuncture and Emily for osteopath treatment at the Bridgeham Clinic. These ladies are very welcoming, easy to talk to and very good at what they do. For the first time I can feel my body healing! I would highly recommend them for a relaxing and professional treatment.
I have a scar from 2 previous surgeries to repair a broken collar bone as a result of a horse-riding accident 20 years previously. I had undergone physiotherapy and deep tissue massage numerous times, but still had reduced and abnormal sensation to the skin around the scar, and a sharp tearing pain when it was touched. I was also reluctant to touch the scar as there were a lot of negative feelings associated with the scar from the trauma and surgeries.

My sister recommended trying acupuncture with Selena at the Bridgeham Clinic. Selena was lovely, she listened to all my physical and emotional problems and talked me through what could help. The needles were a little uncomfortable around the scar tissue, but after a few sessions this improved a lot. The skin moved more freely around the scar tissue and the sharp pain was gone. The numbness went and it felt normal to run my hand over it. Not only was it feeling better, but the appearance was less prominent as well. I would highly recommend Selena if you have any troublesome scar tissue!".

If you haven't already given us a testimonial then why not write one on GoogleFacebook, or by email. You too could then be in with a chance to win a £50 treatment voucher!

See you in the clinic or online soon…you’ve got to be in it to win it!
