Walking Back to Happiness đź’š

Every so often we receive a story that reminds us why we do what we do.

One of our lovely clients recently shared her journey from years of chronic pain to walking over 10,000 steps just a few months after a total knee replacement. Her story isn't just about surgery - it's about preparing well, being supported, and discovering that recovery is about so much more than healing one joint.

Here are four things that stood out from her journey...

Recovery starts long before surgery

When faced with a long wait for a knee replacement, she decided to focus on what she could control.

Through weekly Pilates, one-to-one rehabilitation sessions, walking, swimming, and strengthening exercises, she prepared her body for surgery months before it happened. By the time her operation arrived, she felt stronger, more confident, and ready for recovery.

Every journey starts with understanding. If knee pain is stopping you doing the things you love, we'd be delighted to help you take that first step.

Looking after your whole wellbeing matters

Managing a long-term condition isn't just about the physical symptoms.Alongside movement, she found huge benefits from Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Acupuncture, Meditation, and nutritional support. These therapies helped reduce stress, improve sleep, manage pain, and gave her valuable time to focus on herself during a challenging period.

At Bridgeham Clinic, we don't just look at your knee. We assess how your whole body moves to understand what's contributing to your symptoms, so you leave with answers, not guesswork.

Teamwork really does make the difference

One thing she particularly appreciated was how our practitioners worked together.

Whether she was seeing Jo for Pilates, Michelle for Reflexology, Trevor for Osteopathy or Selena for Meditation, everyone understood her goals and communicated with one another to ensure she received joined-up, personalised care.

Sometimes the best results come from looking beyond the knee. Our multidisciplinary team combines a range of expertise to help identify what's contributing to your pain and support you every step of the way

Small steps become big milestones

After surgery, every achievement mattered.

Walking without crutches. Climbing the stairs. Driving again. Returning to Pilates.

Then came the moment she'd been working towards for months - walking more than 10,000 steps pain free.

Today she's back gardening, walking her dog and enjoying life again.

As she so beautifully put it:

"Broken to more than a little bit brilliant... walking back to happiness."

We have a little favour to ask…

Our neighbouring business is now fully occupied, which means Bridgeham now has just 12 on-site parking spaces available. On busy class days, these spaces are often needed for patients attending treatment and those in pain with mobility challenges.

If you’re fit, comfortable walking and able to help, we’d really appreciate you parking on a nearby road (please park legally and not on yellow lines!) and enjoying the short walk to class.

As a thank you, every time you tell Reception you’ve joined our Park & Stride Challenge, you’ll receive a Bridgeham Buck worth 10 credits (£1.00) to save towards Bridgeham products and services.

A few extra steps for you could make all the difference to someone who needs to park closer.

Thank you for helping us keep Bridgeham accessible for everyone.

Together we’re Moving Marvellously for Life. 💙

Testimonial Prize Draw Winner!

Here is what Ms.S said about her Bridgeham experience:

I just wanted to say a very big thank you for making me feel so welcome and for the kindness and care I was shown today.

I thought my current treatment of pain killers, 3 weekly physio and optional walking stick was my lot. How wrong I was!

Today, following a face-to-face consultation with Eva my osteopath and Selena my acupuncturist, a thorough history was taken, I had a comprehensive examination, the findings explained, and treatment given. I feel like a new person.

Yes, it's going to take time and more treatment, but to be mobile again and enjoy life without pain is going to be achievable. How I wish I'd known about Bridgeham earlier. It would have saved a lot of tears

If you haven't already given us a testimonial then why not write one on Google, Facebook, or by email. You too could then be in with a chance to win a ÂŁ50 treatment voucher!

See you in the clinic soon…you’ve got to be in it to win it!
