Research conducted in Australia has concluded that Paracetamol doesn’t help lower-back pain or arthritis. No evidence was found that Paracetamol had a significant positive effect, compared to placebo (dummy treatment) in relieving pain and disability in cases of acute lower back pain and was only minimally effective in osteoarthritis.

NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recommends the following treatments for low back pain:
- Exercise class
- Manual therapy
- Combined Therapy
