Jo’s Journey to Recovery
This time last year, St Patricks day was spent laying on my back, with my left leg in the air, in an Irish pub in Arinsal with a pint of beer watching the rugby! It was the day I injured my anterior cruciate ligament on the ski slopes…ouch! Somehow I feel this year will not be the same as last year! I had been intending to be jumping up and down on the day after St Paddy’s day cheering the fabulous England Rugby team in the final game of the 6 nations to Ireland! Not quite as much jumping from me as I had hoped, but well done Ireland, a shame for the England team but still a huge Championship win!

My knee surgery happened in June 2016 with the wonderful Professor Barratt in Southampton Spire so at the end of this month I will be 9 months post op. Thank you everyone for bearing with me and for your continued patience, support and encouragement. On reflection it has indeed been a wonderful learning journey for me. I feel very grateful and blessed.

During this past year I have kept moving my body with the wonderful Pilates and Garuda, aren’t I blessed to be around such amazing practitioners and a very understanding husband and couple of children. Along with moving the business out of our house to this fabulous new building here in Manor Royal, 1 Oak Cottage it has been a busy old time!

Ben still asks “is your broken leg fixed Mummy?” I feel it is 90% there…I have a few exercises to master on the reformer and Garuda machine along with at the barre (not the Irish one) and on the mat. I can now run up the stairs two at a time and have worn a pair of heels once. I am still battling with the adaptation fairy regarding a cheeky left hip hike and dog walks can prove tricky in the slippy mud but with wonderful Spring budding around the corner I feel I will soon be endeavouring to walk to work or ride the bike to work. Happy days!

If you’ve not yet been to visit us here in 1 Oak Cottage then do pop by for a cuppa and a catch up. It’s a fabulous place to go to work and to go for top treatments.
