Muscle Aches & Pains

Muscle aches and pains are extremely common. Almost everybody has experienced discomfort in their muscles at some point in their life. We can feel aches and pains in any area of the body as we have muscles surround and supporting our bodies.

A lot of muscle aches are a result from too much: stresstension, or physical activity. In addition, we also see poor posture arising from long periods of sitting, as gravity challenges us throughout the day we can become slumped, particularly when sitting. When we slump we are loading and compressing the joints too much which can potentially lead to restrictions in the joints, also known as being out of alignment. Consequently, the muscles can become tight and shortened on one side of the joint while the opposing muscles become lengthened and weak on the other side of the joint. This protective response causes a muscle imbalance which can result in experiencing aches and pains.

How Bridgeham can Help?

We would normally recommend that you book an appointment to visit the osteopath for an initial assessment and case history to fully understand the problem. They will then discuss the best treatment for your recovery which may involve osteopathic treatment, massage, acupuncture or Pilates for exercise.

The initial aim will be to reduce pain and get you functioning normally again! The Pilates can help to achieve this should your issue be movement or posture related and can be extremely beneficial in maintaining good movement patterns to avoid pain returning.
